BECOME A BLOCK CAPTAIN
WE NEED YOU!! We are asking for 1-2 block captains per street. The role of a block captain is to pass out flyers when needed to your street. One thing we would love to add this year for our block captains is for you to host 1-2 events during the year for your block/street. POPNA is happy to help you with ideas for events and more so please don't feel to overwhelmed. We want everyone to get to know their neighbors better and we think this is a great way to do that. Please contact Jeff Kelly to sign up as a block captain or get more information. We hope you will consider joining us as a block captain! You can reach him via text at 214-334-6911 or email at jmkelly93@hotmail.com

Our mandate is to take care of the creek and provide social settings for neighbors to get together. We also offer communication apparatus for lost pets, neighborhood news, and crime watch with an active VIP, greetings for new neighbors, and condolences for families who have suffered a loss. We live here with you. We care about our neighborhood and we want you to be a part of our community and feel at home!

Here is a little bit of an overview of what POPNA does:

Beautification
In 2019, POPNA in conjunction with Friends of Arapaho Park worked to raise funds to update our park (Arapaho park). More information on this is above, this effort will continue into 2020 and the focus of our beautification efforts. We also continued to donate to the garden club in memory of our neighbors who have passed away. We have made an effort to report light outages via https://www.oncorstreetlight.com/. We continue to recognize our neighbors with the Yard of the Month Program. We also participated for the second year in City of Dallas Park Beautification Program, It's My Park Day, but getting together to clean up our park and creek areas. In 2022 with the help of neighbors and the city of Dallas we officially opened the new Arapaho Park.

Social Events
In 2022, We had many social events.  We had a great taco night in May.  We had our annual ice cream social and annual Halloween pizza party.  In past years we have added a neighborhood night out at the Frisco Rough Riders game and Friends of Arapaho Park hosted and expanded Chili Cook-off with fun run, bake sale, silent auction, music and bounce houses. We continued with our block parties, if you are interested in becoming a block captain and helping with these events please email blockcaptain@popna.org. We continued recognizing our neighbors with decorating contests and prizes for Halloween and Christmas.

Communication & Other
In 2022, POPNA continued with our crime watch efforts, national night out and working with the City to improve areas of safety concerns. We hope to expand VIP, please reach out to president@popna.org for more information. You can patrol by car or by walking. We will continue to post information on our website popna.org, our Facebook group (POPNA) and on Nextdoor.

*Block parties are contingent upon getting volunteers for that block!
